Details on a moment that seemed to “animate” Rangers manager Philippe Clement during the AGM have been provided by Sky Sports reporter Gordon Duncan.
Clement attended the annual meeting on Tuesday, December 5, at Edmiston House in Glasgow, where a variety of subjects were discussed.
A stakeholder brought up the point that when things are not going the Rangers’ way on the field, the fans are far too ready to jeer the team.
Explaining Clement’s reaction to that on Sky Sports News [5 December, 13:20], Duncan said: “He started applauding with the rest of the shareholders and agreed he wanted to build a greater synergy.”
Singing from same hymn sheet
Everyone connected with Rangers wants one thing: success on and off the field.
This AGM was a chance for those high up to respond to any worries from supporters, with topics from transfers to transport links discussed.
Clement has been an instant hit since succeeding Michael Beale at Ibrox, so he was never going to face any tough questions.
The Belgian clearly agreed, though, that he is not a fan of supporters booing the side, as we saw last week when Todd Cantwell was substituted.
On that occasion, it was a mixture of some being upset at Cantwell for his poor display, and others perhaps wondering why Sam Lammers was not replaced instead.
It sounds obvious to say, but as long as Rangers are doing well – which it must be said they have been over the entirety of Clement’s tenure – then supporters will be happy.
December really is a pivotal month for the Gers, with a cup final and an Old Firm showdown, so let’s just make sure everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.
