Kenny Miller slammed an “absolutely ridiculous” decision made by referee Alan Muir during the Rangers versus St Johnstone match.
Shortly after Diallang Jaiyesimi was shown a straight red card for St Johnstone, Matthew Smith was penalised for a challenge on Cyriel Dessers.
Miller did not believe the challenge even merited the player being talked to, though, as he got some of the ball first.
“This is getting ridiculous now. Absolutely ridiculous,” Miller said on BBC Radio Scotland [20 December, 20:50pm].
“He’s slid in and played the ball clean. By the way, this will get checked. He’s done nothing wrong. I don’t even think this is a booking.”
Crunching
The referee risked losing control during the first half of the Gers’ meeting with St Johnstone.
A number of challenges went in, including that one from Jaiyesimi on John Lundstram that led to the sending off just 33 minutes into the game.
On that occasion, a yellow card was the initial on-field decision, before Muir was instructed to review the decision and instead issued a red card.
As for the Smith challenge, while a crunching tackle can sometimes look bad, the force does not matter if it is a fair challenge and the ball is won.
Clement lost a couple of players to injury during the match, so it was a more physical affair than he would have liked.
The Gers will now spend the next couple of days resting up before facing Motherwell in their final game before Christmas.
