BBC pundit tells Rangers to ‘pay the money’ for Lawrence Shankland transfer after Celtic defeat

After the Light Blues’ Old Firm derby loss to Celtic in January, Kenny Miller pleaded with Rangers to “pay the money” to sign Lawrence Shankland.

For the first time since moving to Glasgow, Philippe Clement experienced defeat when Brendan Rodgers’ team defeated them 2-1, with goals from Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo Furuhashi making James Tavernier’s goal seem insignificant.

With two games remaining, the setback puts the Gers eight points behind Celtic. According to BBC Sport analyst Miller, Rangers should pay up to £4 million to buy Shankland, which would solve their striker shortage.

All of the issues that Rangers and Clement are currently facing would be resolved if the money were paid to bring Shankland to Ibrox. He is familiar with the competition, has experience scoring goals at this level, and has a good chance of leading the Gers to the Scottish Premiership.

Miller says that Clement needs differentiators, and the Scotsman is just that. The loss on Saturday demonstrated that Rangers must make the financial commitment to bring Shankland to Glasgow in the new year, no matter the cost.
