‘Wow, just wow’ – Outraged Sky Sports pundit stunned by Rangers ace ‘getting paid a fortune’

Kris Boyd expressed astonishment at the shortcomings in Rangers’ attacking lineup as the team’s performance has declined, giving Celtic the upper hand in the title race. In his recent column for the Scottish Sun, Boyd criticized five Rangers forwards for their perceived inadequacies, except for Abdallah Sima, who he excused due to a lengthy injury absence.

However, following Philippe Clement’s team’s recent dropped points against Ross County and Dundee, Boyd singled out Fabio Silva, a high-profile loanee from Wolves, for not justifying his substantial wages and Rabbi Matondo for his erratic shooting, particularly in the Old Firm derby.

Boyd remarked on the lack of creativity from midfield to attack, questioning the contributions of players like Todd Cantwell and Tom Lawrence. He particularly scrutinized Fabio Silva for being caught off guard numerous times despite his hefty price tag. While Abdallah Sima was given some leniency due to his injury history, Boyd maintained his skepticism about Cyriel Dessers’ ability to lead Rangers’ attack.

Boyd’s criticism extended to Matondo, whose scoring accuracy he found lacking unless the goal was unusually wide. Despite previous praise for Silva and Dessers for their performances in the absence of a new striker signing in January, Boyd noted a significant decline in Rangers’ form lately.

He suggested that Nigerian international Sima could still be a valuable backup option, but injuries and recruitment failures have forced him into a primary role. Silva, initially brought in as a temporary solution, has ironically appeared more effective as a central striker than in his original wide role.

Boyd also discussed Lawrence’s inconsistent impact since joining Rangers and Matondo’s sporadic brilliance, emphasizing the need for more consistent performances from these players. Overall, Boyd highlighted the frustrating lack of game-changing performances from these forwards and urged manager Philippe Clement to make decisions regarding their roles ahead of the summer transfer window.
