Rangers next manager: Wyness is shocked that Scot 37-yr-old set to replace Clement

Keith Wyness, former Aberdeen chief, has stated that Steven Naismith’s return to Rangers as manager should be delayed despite his successful tenure at Hearts. Wyness, who has extensive experience in football management and consultancy with elite clubs, believes Naismith may need around five years before being prepared for such a role at Ibrox.

Naismith, aged 37, has achieved notable success by leading Hearts to a secure third position in the Scottish Premiership, positioning them well for European football qualification next season. Despite Naismith’s past playing career at Rangers and his impressive performance as a manager, Wyness expressed caution regarding his readiness for the Rangers managerial position.

Wyness mentioned his surprise at Naismith’s managerial skills based on their time together at Everton but emphasized the need for more experience before handling the challenges at a club like Rangers. He suggested that Naismith might have to explore opportunities outside of Scotland to gain diverse managerial experiences before considering a high-pressure role like managing Rangers.
