Journalist fires: Clement and fans shouldn’t be happy with underperforming Rangers player

Rangers: Cyriel Dessers’ actions at Ibrox will not please Philippe Clement.

Despite comments that a season with 20 goals would be a “decent” output, Kenny Miller has stated that Philippe Clement and Rangers supporters will not be pleased with Cyriel Dessers.

The former Ibrox player maintained that his lackluster performances and opportunities lost will be what leave the manager and supporters wanting more from him than the goals he has scored.

Since coming to the team in the summer, Dessers has come under intense criticism for his lack of consistency in front of goal, missing important opportunities and not being a reliable threat from the front.

Miller said, “If he can break the 20-goal mark, I’m sure he’ll look back and think that’s actually decent numbers. But it’s the bigger picture, it’s been the ones that he’s missed and his overall performances,” during a live interview on Sky Sports Football [April 17, 09:20 p.m.].

The Rangers supporters and Philippe Clement will definitely want to see better.”

Ranger dissatisfied with Cyriel Dessers following recent performances
In the end, Miller’s criticism is valid. Regardless of the number of goals Dessers ends up scoring this season, his performances have been insufficient, and he is still a disappointing addition from last summer.

This happened during the frustrating 0-0 draw with Dundee, where Dessers was benched due to his recent poor performances and failed to contribute from the bench in a lackluster performance.

Due to his persistently poor performances—he has only scored one goal in his last seven Rangers appearances across all competitions—there has been debate regarding Dessers’ continued starting position up front.

After the 0-0 draw, fans’ frustration will only increase, and Clement will probably face criticism of his own. However, Rangers might find themselves in a worse situation if Dessers had posed a greater threat moving forward.
