A midweek loss for Rangers B has reportedly forced teenage attacker Zak Lovelace to sit out an additional two months of action.

After joining Rangers in July 2022, the former Millwall sensation was expected to break through the academy and into the main team.

During the previous season, he made his breakthrough in the Viaplay Cup and gained some experience in the 3-0 Old Firm triumph over Celtic at Ibrox [Transfermarkt].

In what turned out to be the manager’s last game in charge of the Light Blues, Michael Beale gave Lovelace an opportunity against Aberdeen at the start of this season, although Lovelace was mostly a Rangers B player.

The next away match against St Mirren saw Zak Lovelace start for the Rangers for the first time after an impressive showing that convinced Hall of Famer and interim manager Steven Davis to do so.

However, Lovelace’s 41-minute optimistic run came to an end. He was obviously very upset by the scenario after being dragged away from Paisley hurt on a stretcher.

Although that was in October, Lovelace has spent the last month or so diligently working on his recuperation and returning to the grass.

Tragically for the young player, though, The Rangers Review claims that he will have to spend extra time in the rehab facility following a hamstring injury he sustained during a Rangers B friendly versus Royal Antwerp.

Zak Lovelace is suffering from more injuries

As we revealed on Wednesday, Josh Gentles and Findlay Curtis scored the goals that ultimately caused Rangers B to lose 3-2 in Belgium, where Lovelace started the match.

However, Lovelace was taken off the field in the first half, and it has since been claimed that a scan indicates Lovelace could miss up to two months of action.

Lovelace talked about how happy he was to be playing for the Rangers B team again following a February match at Auchenhowie against Cardiff City.

“I was quite happy,” he remarked. I was previously informed by David McCallum that I might start. I had to simply prepare myself psychologically to start over and kind of go back to where I had been.

“Dude, it feels great. Nothing has actually gone wrong with it. I am simply attempting, as I have stated previously, to return to my previous level of sharpness.

“I’ll hopefully be returning soon, but I still need to work out a few issues. With any luck, I’ll score 60 against Dundee and then go on to score 90 the next game.
