Former Ibrox prodigy confesses desire to return to Rangers, saying “That’s where I belong.”

Former Ibrox talent Dapo Mebude has expressed his desire to return to Rangers in the future, aiming to become a key player for his former club.

Now playing for KV Oostende in Belgium at 22 years old, Mebude began his career at Rangers before moving to Watford in 2021 and then overseas. Despite this journey, he still sees Rangers as his “home” and hopes to make a significant impact there.

While at Rangers, Mebude mainly featured in the B team and youth squads, with one appearance for the first team in a match against Kilmarnock in 2019. He spoke to The Athletic about his ambitions, mentioning his brother Dire, who also progressed through the Rangers youth setup. Mebude revealed that they spent Christmas together in Belgium and discussed their goals of transitioning into first-team football.

Mebude’s dream includes returning to Rangers and becoming a key goalscorer at Ibrox, stating, “That’s my home.” Despite his journey through clubs like Wimbledon and Queen of the South, he remains focused on a potential return to Rangers.

However, Mebude has faced challenges, including a horrific car accident that left him in a coma for five days, requiring emergency heart surgery. He is currently working on regaining fitness and is expected to resume first-team training next week.
