With a commanding 5-0 victory against Hearts on Sunday, Rangers preserved their two-point advantage atop the Scottish Premiership. However, they will have a difficult test ahead of them tonight as they attempt to further solidify their hold on the top spot against Kilmarnock.

As the team approaches the last part of the season, Philippe Clement’s team has had an incredible run since the Belgian’s arrival and are now favorites to win the Scottish Premiership championship in May. The race will undoubtedly be fierce and come down to the wire, but former Gers player Andy Halliday has identified the main factor that makes him think they will defeat Celtic in May.

“I think the Rangers’ three January additions may have a significant impact on the outcome of the title.” I believe we seen that in its entirety on Saturday against Hearts,” Halliday said on the Superscoreboard for Clyde 1.

In the weekend’s thumping of Hearts, the Gers’ January additions, Oscar Cortes, Fabio Silva, and Mohamed Diomande, all scored goals. The victory at Ibrox gave them a two-point lead over Celtic going into this evening’s midweek games. In the final moments of the season, Halliday thinks the team will stand out since they had a better transfer window than their Old Firm rivals.

“Adding Diomande and Cortes to the starting eleven has improved the team’s performance dramatically. The current Motherwell star said, “It seems like Fabio Silva and (Cyriel) Dessers are performing the ham and egg job perfectly well, where one comes in and scores a goal, gets rested in the next game, and the other one comes in and scores a goal as well.
