Ex-Man United Player Criticises Rangers and Predicts League Winner on BBC

If Rangers had acquired a number nine during the transfer window, they might have already won the Scottish Premiership. Michael Stewart claims that the Gers have a 60% chance of winning the league this year.

Despite having a game in hand, Brendan Rodgers’ team is ahead of Philippe Clement’s team in the standings by one point.

Stewart stated on BBC Sportsound, as cited by The Scottish Sun (16 March), “The league could have been over if Rangers had actually got their act together and gone out and got a No9.”

Steward continued, “For me it’s 60/40 in terms of Rangers but I wouldn’t write Celtic off,” in reference to the front-runners.

Can Rangers, led by Philippe Clement, finish strong?
With Rangers, Clement has had an incredible season thus far. Since Michael Beale took over, the manager has really improved things at Ibrox.

The man in the dugout has not only lifted the League Cup and has the Gers flying high in the Scottish Cup, but he has also closed the gap between his team and arch rivals Celtic in the league standings.

Of course, there was also the incredible run in the Europa League, which ended heartbreakingly at Ibrox against Benfica.

Now that the Bhoys had defeated St Johnstone 3-1 at Celtic Park on Saturday (16 March), he needs to concentrate primarily on the league. If the Gers do well away to Dundee on Sunday, they will have another opportunity to pass their city rivals (17 March).

The Rangers
Since taking over, Philippe Clement has brought Rangers back to life. However, when the two teams meet in the upcoming Old Firm on April 7 at Ibrox, possibly the league will be decided.
