Breaking news: Rangers set to finalize a £6 million signing at Ibrox.

Rangers could now buy Abdallah Sima for just £6million this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Sima does not fit into the long-term plans of his parent club Brighton.

Now, it is believed that the Seagulls are willing to break even on Sima, 22, and accept a £6million bid – the same fee they paid Slavia Prague for him in the summer of 2021.

The Premier League side had previously valued Sima at between £10-15million, meaning Rangers would have likely needed to break their all-time record transfer to keep him at Ibrox.

Abdallah Sima to make permanent Rangers move this summer?

However, they are well-placed to secure him at a bargain price.

The Senegal international has been one of the Gers’ best players this season having bagged 16 goals and two assists in all competitions.

He has scored crucial goals in the Europa League until their exit in the last-16, as well as 11 goals in the league, including the recent second goal in the 3-3 Old Firm match earlier this month (7 April).

Despite dealing with injuries that have affected his season, including a 13-game absence due to a hamstring problem and a recent knock during the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday (21 April), well-informed sources indicate that Rangers remain interested in a permanent transfer for Sima.

However, other reports from Football Insider (11 April) suggest that the forward is also catching the attention of clubs in the Premier League and the top five European leagues.

Rangers sit three points behind league leaders Celtic and most recently advanced to the final of the Scottish Cup after their 2-0 win against Hearts.

They return to league action on Sunday afternoon (28 April) with their away clash against St Mirren.
