“He adores it”—Pundit supports Rangers in reaching a contract for the “exceptional” boss as negotiations get going

Rangers: As negotiations to avoid leaving continue, John Lundstram emerges as a crucial Ibrox leader.

Since John Lundstram is a leader on the team and among the finest players this year, Derek Ferguson thinks the Rangers will extend Lundstram’s contract.

The English midfielder is in negotiations with the team to extend his contract, which is set to expire in the summer [Daily Record, 20 January].

After seeing the team in action at their January training camp in La Manga, Ferguson saw how essential Lundstram had become and said he considers the 30-year-old on par with players like center-back Connor Goldson and captain James Tavernier.

The former Sheffield United player is playing so well and so at ease in Glasgow that the analyst says “he loves it,” implying there isn’t a better place for him to be.

“He’s been one of our best performers this season, churning out game after game but doing it with a lot of quality,” Ferguson exclusively told Ibrox News.

“I believe he is among the Rangers side’s leaders. I was having a conversation with a man at an event in La Manga where we got to see their training and a few of their games.

The fact that he was a leader was the one feature that really stuck out. Of course, there’s Tav and men like Goldson and large Jack Butland, but Lundstram also fits that description.

“He’s performed really well. He understands us. He understands the essence of Rangers. He must really like it up here.

“And you think that, should he choose not to sign with the Rangers, where else will he be practicing his craft?”

Philippe Clement has made John Lundstram a centre piece of his Rangers line up.

Rangers ace rumored to an exit is just as crucial to the team as Jack Butland and James Tavernier

Ryan Jack’s contract is also up, but it seems that his lack of availability will cause him to leave, which would further increase Lundstram’s importance to the team.

Since taking over at Rangers, Philippe Clement has started him in almost all of the team’s games, and the Englishman has responded with some of his greatest play for the organization.

The sooner a deal is achieved, the better. Michael Stewart correctly said lately that it would be a costly proposition if the Light Blues were forced to locate a replacement on the transfer market.

Another senior Gers star has already decided to quit the team this summer, according to recent Rangers reports.
