“Absolutely Top Drawer”: Pundit pleased with Ranger’s bright side following unexpected snub

In the end, Derek Ferguson believes that Rangers will benefit from Jack Butland’s England omission because he won’t be in danger of getting hurt during the international break.

Rangers: Pundit glad Jack Butland England snub hands Philippe Clement an Ibrox silver lining

Despite acknowledging that he is relieved the 31-year-old keeper will be available for the title run-in, the pundit was expecting the Gers keeper to be called up to the current squad after his stellar play in Scotland this season.

Even though Butland gave a terrific performance at Ibrox against Benfica just hours after the depressing news from abroad, Rangers may still win a domestic treble this season. Rangers may not be in Europe.

Ferguson is surprised that Philippe Clement did not return for England, but he is focusing on the positives. The former Crystal Palace player has a history of injuries, so anything that could eliminate him would be a major blow.

In an exclusive interview with Ibrox News, he stated, “Jack Butland is unquestionably a top keeper.” Yes, he’s had, well, let’s not say issues, but he’s kind of lost it over the past few years, as he’s currently demonstrating with the Rangers.

Not only in the Scottish game, but throughout Europe as well, he’s been outstanding. I had assumed he might have given a little shout, but England’s unity is fantastic.

“But in a way, I’m relieved that Jack Butland will be in good shape come the season’s business end.”

Philippe Clement to gain from Jack Butland’s snub at Rangers?
Unless Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, or Sam Johnstone suffer an injury in the coming weeks, Rangers’ chances of qualifying for the summer Olympics are probably over. However, if Butland is driven to disprove Gareth Southgate, that can only be to their advantage.

In the current friendlies, Ridvan Yilmaz has already sustained an injury to highlight the constant risk, which seems to be especially true for Light Blues players.
Keeping Butland out of harm’s way for the impending Old Firm match against Celtic is a sort of bonus for Clement, as Abdallah Sima similarly returned from the Africa Cup of Nations without playing a minute but out for months.
In other Rangers news, it’s now almost a given that Lawrence Shankland will go to Ibrox.
