In an attempt to increase the experience within their ranks for the upcoming campaign, Sunderland is hoping to sign Chris Willock, a midfielder who will soon be a free agent, during the summer.
The 26-year-old, who can play left wing or central midfield, has been a nearly constant presence at Loftus Road since moving permanently from Benfica four years ago. He has accumulated a wealth of Championship experience during that time.
He was chosen as the team’s player of the year at the conclusion of the 2021–2022 campaign, and now that his contract is about to expire, he is looking to move on.
Although Willock is just 26 years old, he has played a respectable amount of football at this level over the years, and Sunderland is in dire need of experience in the ranks.
After beginning his career at Arsenal, he moved to Portugal to play for Benfica, and he afterwards spent time on loan at Huddersfield and West Bromwich Albion.
