To stay in the Championship, QPR destroys Leeds United 4-0
Since taking over as Gareth Ainsworth’s replacement, the Spaniard has performed exceptionally well. Cifuentes took over a team that was six points from safety and a divided club and fan base.

But thanks to a strong run of play, they knew going into last night’s game against Leeds at home that a victory would theoretically ensure their safety.

Championship Table (As it stands April 27th)
Team P GD Pts
16 QPR 45 -12 53
17 Millwall 44 -12 53
18 Stoke City 44 -16 50
19 Blackburn Rovers 44 -16 49

They also secured the three points in spectacular fashion, as Cifuentes’ team outperformed the promotion-chasing team at Loftus Road, winning four goals to none.

Ilias Chair gave the R’s a well-deserved lead early on, and Lucas Andersen scored the team’s first goal with a stylish finish.

After that, the Londoners did have to deal with some pressure from Leeds, but they managed to regain control of the match, and Lyndon Dykes scored a goal to make it three. Sam Field completed the scoring with a late goal, which set off wild celebrations throughout the stadium.

After the final whistle, the players and staff performed a lap of honor, and Cifuentes was duly praised for his accomplishments as he forges a genuine bond with the fans.

QPR has struggled to produce results over the past few years, and Bhatia admitted as much in an open social media post that also provided reasons for optimism going forward.

“Very moving outcome to close out the season tonight. I’m really sorry for all the pain we’ve all experienced this season; maybe in due course, the only thing that will remain will be a memory that makes us smile in light of what we went through. Thank you to all of our supporters who stood by us and helped us get to safety. Congratulations to all of our players and the entire team at the club. We have faith in Marti!

Marti Cifuentes has the ability to revive the fun at QPR

First of all, given that co-owners aren’t usually this forthright and honest with fans on social media, you have to admit that this is a fantastic message from them.

Indeed, there have been some serious errors over the years, including the unsatisfactory appointments of Neil Critchley and Ainsworth.

But Cifuentes is undoubtedly the man they need, and they should be very proud of the work he has accomplished since moving to England.

They put on their best performance under his leadership against Leeds, a team that might be in the Premier League the following season. He has built a strong, resilient team. It was a fantastic team performance, and the players tactically met the boss’s demands.

QPR has been in the top half of the league since Cifuentes was brought in, and if the former Hammarby manager can get some solid support in the summer transfer window, then the supporters will be daydreaming about what could be next season.
