Queens Park Rangers Face Competition For £340K-Rated Star

Queens Park Rangers is one of three clubs interested in recruiting Luke Berry from Premier League club Luton Town this summer, according to recent sources.

The Hatters are fighting hard to prevent relegation to the Championship for the first time, as they are presently 18th in the league, one point behind the dotted line coming into the final three games of the season.

Rob Edwards’ team has challenging matches against Everton, West Ham United, and Fulham as the season ends. However, the team has recruited prudently, refusing to splash the cash as many newly promoted sides do, and they still have a strong chance of remaining in the first tier.

Luton still has a few players in the squad who have been with the club since they were a mid-table Championship side, but one man in particular has stood the test of time at Kenilworth Road. Luke Berry joined the Hatters in 2017, when Bedfordshire was still in League Two.

The midfielder has made 182 appearances for the club, including a goal against Nottingham Forest in March, making him the only player to score in all top four divisions of English football.

According to Football Insider, Berry’s time at Luton is coming to an end. Queens Park Rangers, Watford, and DC United are all interested in signing him this summer.

Berry is valued at £340,000 by Transfermarkt, although his contract with Luton expires at the conclusion of the season, allowing him to pursue other opportunities.

Writer’s perspective

Berry will surely depart Luton as a club icon, but for his own sake, he will want to play regularly at a high level. During the 2023/24 Premier League season, he only played 305 minutes in 15 matches and scored two goals.

Queens Park Rangers could be a great fit for him. Marti Cifuentes, the club’s head coach, is aiming to strengthen his midfield this summer, and Berry’s Championship experience might make him a wise addition.
