“It’s a special area” Tony Pulis urges Portsmouth FC to follow Ipswich

Tony Pulis has discussed Portsmouth’s Championship potential following League One triumph

Tony Pulis has announced that he is thrilled that Portsmouth has been promoted to the Championship.

As the third division’s final round of games approaches this weekend, John Mousinho’s team has already secured both a return to the second tier and the League One championship.

The South Coast Club, which last participated in the second tier in 2012, is set to return.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, Pompey experienced severe financial difficulties that quickly resulted in their triple relegation from the Premier League to League Two.

However, Mousinho managed their seven-year tenure in League One as they were promoted to the Championship.

The job Mousinho has done since assuming the starting position at Portsmouth last season has been commended by Pulis.

Having worked at Fratton Park in the early years of his managerial career, he has also expressed his love for the city.

“I’m thrilled for Pompey; it was a great pleasure to be there, and the fans are amazing,” Pulis remarked.

There are only blue shirts visible when you arrive in the city by car! They are quite proud to be from Portsmouth; it’s a unique place.

“I had fun there.

“John Mousinho has done an excellent job, but the backroom crew deserves recognition as well.”

“He faces a formidable task ahead of him in the upcoming season; they must examine Ipswich Town and attempt to emulate their achievements, if feasible.”

Tony Pulis’ Portsmouth stint

This summer, the attacker is expected to be on the move.

Before leaving Portsmouth in 2000, Pulis managed just 35 games during his tenure.

Pompey placed 18th in the table while playing in the Championship, which was formerly known as the First Division.

He left as manager early in the 2000–01 season, with just 11 victories in 35 games.

Among other positions in English football, Pulis went on to manage Premier League teams like Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

Now that Portsmouth wants to stay in the second division for more than a year, they will start preparing for life in the Championship.

Mousinho will have high hopes for his team’s ability to compete at that level, even though Ipswich Town has set a high standard for the promoted League One teams to meet in the upcoming season.

Although consecutive promotions might be a stretch, supporters will probably consider any finish outside of the bottom three to be a success.

On April 27, Pompey will travel to Lincoln City in order to conclude their League One campaign.

Tony Pulis

Mousinho has been a fantastic addition to Portsmouth.

In League One, Portsmouth has lost a lot of chances since being promoted in 2017.

They have placed in the top half four times, earned a play-off spot twice, and finished in 10th place during their worst season.

But prior to Mousinho’s arrival, they were never quite good enough to be in the Championship.

After seeing how well he has performed with the team, supporters will be eager to see what he can accomplish with this club in the second division the following year.
