For Boro, the season has been somewhat disheartening thus far as they have failed to match the highs of the previous year, in which they made it to the play-off semi-finals.

Boro still has a chance to finish in the top six, so everything is not lost for them. However, success may depend on some good fortune.

A feat in and of itself, Carrick has also guided his team to the Carabao Cup semifinals.

However, if they miss out on the playoffs, Carrick will be eager to add some new players to his roster during the summer. According to The Sun, he appears to be interested in Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway.

As previously said, Brendan Galloway from Plymouth is a player that Middlesbrough is interested in signing in the summer, according to The Sun.

This is due to the defender’s contract expiring at the end of this campaign, which means Boro will have no problem signing the former Everton player.

The defender isn’t just being eyed by Middlesbrough, though; Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City, two Championship teams, are also eager to get him.

Galloway started out with MK Dons, but as a teenager he managed to get a transfer to Everton, a Premier League team.

In addition to his disastrous loan stints at West Brom and Sunderland, the 27-year-old had a difficult time at Everton, making just 21 appearances for the Toffees.

After leaving Everton in 2019, Galloway went on to sign with Luton Town; however, the defender struggled to get regular playing time and left the team two years ago. At that point, he joined the Pilgrims in pursuit of playing time after a stuttering career.

Galloway has grown to be a vital member of Plymouth Argyle in recent years—that is, when he has been healthy. It appears that he has finally found a place to play football.

The 27-year-old defender has struggled with injuries throughout his time in Devon, although he did play 18 League One games last season as part of the team that won League One and earned promotion to the Championship. The defender made 14 appearances in his debut season at the club.

However, Galloway appears to have overcome his setbacks during the current campaign and returned to the field.

After missing a significant portion of the season due to injury, he has made appearances in all three FA Cup games and scored against Leeds United in a round four replay. He has also played in 17 of the team’s last 18 league games, mostly as a left-hand side of a back three.

Galloway has started 11 of those 17 Championship games, averaging 61 minutes of football per contest.

Middlesbrough, Coventry, and Blackburn will be paying attention to Galloway’s defensive play.

This season, the defender has assisted Plymouth in keeping three clean sheets. According to SofaScore.com, he has averaged 1.1 interceptions, 1.3 tackles, and 2.5 ball recoveries per game.

Moreover, Galloway has only allowed 0.2 goals to be dribbled past and has made no mistakes that have resulted in goals.
