The NFL community has been talking about All-Pro linebacker Shaq Leonard’s future team since the Colts cut him a few weeks ago. After what felt like a lengthy consideration process, a decision was made, and Shaq Leonard will now be joining the Philadelphia Eagles.

Shaq Leonard appears to have had to choose between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. The four-time All-Pro linebacker helps the Eagles’ defense get even stronger to the point where they can compete with some of the top teams in the NFL.
South Carolina State product Shaq Leonard was selected in the second round of the 2018 draft. 614 total tackles, 15 sacks, 17 forced fumbles, 6 fumble recoveries, 12 interceptions (one returned for a score), and 31 pass deflections are all records he has made in his career. The Eagles, who lost to the San Francisco 49ers at home 42-19 yesterday, will benefit greatly from this addition.
What does the Philadelphia Eagles’ acquisition of Shaq Leonard signify?
This is a two-pronged response since the Eagles wanted to get him and keep him away from the Cowboys. With a 10-2 record, the team that is still the first seed in the NFC will benefit greatly from the one-year contract, which will strengthen the defense, which is now its weakest point.
The Eagles needed to find a method to improve their defense because it has been appalling; they rank 24th in the NFL with their 24.0 points allowed per game. Because of this, even though the Eagles have the best record in football, their point differential is +39.
With Zach Cunningham sidelined due to injury, Shaq Leonard will start at linebacker in the Eagles 4-3 base defense scheme, partnering with Nicholas Morrow and Haason Reddick. Shaq Leonard’s talent is extremely rare to come available at this stage of the season, but it filled a major void for a team hoping to make it back to the Super Bowl after losing to the Chiefs the previous year and keeps accumulating amazing talent.
