Tyrese Maxey took the most shots for the Philadelphia 76ers in their Christmas loss to the Miami Heat. Joel Embiid is out and returning home as the team starts a road trip. However, only four of his twenty attempts found the back of the net, which contributed significantly to the 119-113 defeat. The Heat, who were without Jimmy Butler, put a lot of defensive pressure on Maxey. He could create open looks, but for the most part of the first and second halves, he was unable to capitalize on any of them. He has to face difficult circumstances like these if he is to grow. He turned out to be a very poor responder in this particular game.

After the game, Maxey told reporters, “I mean, they did like the normal stuff that I see when I’m out there without Jo — the blitzing, some hard showing.” However, I got some pretty good looks overall, and I think I make some shots about four or five times out of ten. Thus, I suppose today is simply one of those days.

Throughout his career, Maxey has attempted 29 field goals in a single game. The next closest game was seven, but this one had the fewest makes. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Tobias Harris combined for 52 points for the Sixers on 19-34 shooting, but Maxey’s poor play made it much harder to steal the victory on the road.

It must be flushed. Maxey expressed her disappointment by saying, “I shoot shots for a lot of those looks every game. A few times, I managed to throw a guy off balance by getting so much distance that I became vulnerable. It simply did not enter. I had three missed free throws. It was a long time since I had missed consecutive free throws like that. It takes place.

Bam Adebayo and Jaime Jaquez Jr. both had excellent games for the Heat, but the Sixers, who had fallen behind by as much as 21 points in the second half, managed to stay in the game with a strong third quarter. When guys with his level of talent go into a shooting slump, Maxey knows how to handle it by continuing to shoot and contributing five assists throughout the game.

It was evident to Sixers head coach Nick Nurse that Tyrese Maxey’s night was not tonight. Though he acknowledged his degree of aggression, he acknowledged that he could have finished with a few more shots.

They most definitely had plans in place to double-team him, deny him a lot of room, and do other similar things.Nurse remarked, “They forced him to work.I believe that he experienced some really nice places and simply had one of those nights, you know?He had some really nice looks, in my opinion, especially in the early part of three.I believed he had been in the paint a few times. They played him pretty physically, in my opinion. In the beginning, they weren’t really calling the bumps on the drives. He may have been slightly impacted by that, but he cannot allow it to affect him.More than anything, I believe it was just another difficult night for him.

Upon being questioned about his officiating, Maxey shifted the blame onto himself for failing to make his calls. After being bumped multiple times, the Sixers guard did raise his hands (and should have drawn a few more whistles). His attention to what he can manage, however, is admirable.

On Wednesday, Tyrese Maxey and the Sixers will get the opportunity to recover when they play the Orlando Magic.
