The 76ers centre Saying he has Bell’s palsy, Embiid
Bell’s palsy, a type of facial paralysis, has been diagnosed in Philadelphia 76ers All-Star centre Joel Embiid. He claims the condition has afflicted him since prior to the play-in tournament.
After scoring 50 points in the Sixers’ Game 3 victory over the New York Knicks on Thursday, Embiid wore sunglasses to the podium and disclosed that he has struggled with a number of symptoms, including dry eyes and blurred vision.
A “day or two” prior to the Sixers’ April 17 play-in tournament matchup against the Miami Heat, Embiid claimed to have first noticed the condition. Embiid led the Sixers to victory and the playoffs with a game-high 23 points and 15 rebounds.
