As Celtic and Spurs target seals a “long-term” contract, Newcastle United is expected to confirm their signing on transfer deadline day.

Newcastle United transfers: This is the current situation for Eddie Howe’s team as we approach the transfer deadline.

Even though Newcastle United is essentially closed for business this January transfer window, the team has not yet made an announcement about a deal. Alfie Harrison, an 18-year-old midfielder for Manchester City, was acquired by The Magpies last week; head coach Eddie Howe later verified the agreement. After making an impression at Man City’s academy this season with eight goals and four assists in ten outings, the teenager has signed to a long-term contract at St James’ Park.

Even though he is a youth sign, the adolescent is probably Newcastle’s first and only January addition. He will become a member of the club’s under-21 and under-18 squads. Before he decided to sign with Newcastle, the player was also connected to Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Celtic.

Howe commented, “We welcome him into the football club. I wasn’t directly involved in that transfer, but we welcome him into the club,” in reflection on the move. We hope he has a great career with us because he is a really gifted young player.”

Harrison’s signing has not yet been formally announced by the team in a statement, but one is anticipated very shortly.

Although there has been a lot of talk and conjecture about important players, Newcastle has really had a rather quiet transfer window. The lone first-team signing confirmed thus far this month is Javier Manquillo, a free agent who is joining Celta Vigo.

This month, Isaac Hayden was also scheduled to go on loan from the team after being called back from his stint at Standard Liege. However, Howe has created doubts over the player’s transfer status by acknowledging that he was ‘not clear’ of the details surrounding the midfielder’s possible loan move. The 28-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from a number of Championship teams, although a deal has not yet been finalized.

Thankfully, after a lot of conjecture in recent weeks, Kieran Trippier and Miguel Almiron’s futures have been discussed. Bayern Munich made a £13 million deal for Trippier, but The Magpies turned it down. Meanwhile, Almiron was strongly connected to a transfer to Al Shabab, a Saudi Pro League team.

Both of the trades ultimately fell through, and it has now been announced that the players would stay with the team until the very end of the season.
