Exclusive: The owner of the New York Rangers(James Dolan) was declared…

The New York Rangers are a well-known professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) with a rich history. They are based in New York City. Currently playing in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, they are one of the original clubs of the NHL and have won the Stanley Cup four times (in 1928, 1933, 1940, and 1994).

Influential people like Conn Smythe helped shape the early Rangers squads, which were loaded with greats like Frank Boucher, Murray Murdoch, and Bun and Bill Cook. Notably, the team’s early victories were led by Lester Patrick, who took over as coach before the team’s debut. They accomplished a historic first by winning the Stanley Cup in 1928, making history as the first NHL team headquartered in the United States to do so.

The Rangers had difficult times from the 1940s to the 1960s, as evidenced by their inconsistent play and few postseason appearances. However, in the latter part of the 1960s, they had a comeback.

Legends like Mark Messier and Brian Leetch led the team to an incredible success in 1993–94, which resulted in the team’s first Stanley Cup victory in more than 50 years. Notably, this was their final trophy before their incredible season of 2015–14, in which they won both a division title and the Presidents’ Trophy.

James Dolan, a well-known personality in the sports and entertainment industries, controls two of New York’s most prestigious professional sports franchises: the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s New York Rangers. Notably, Dolan also owns Madison Square Garden, which hosts both of these teams’ home games. In addition to owning these massive franchises, he owns their respective affiliates, the Westchester Knicks and the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Dolan’s participation in sports ownership originates from his family’s ties to Cablevision, which his father, Charles, created. He has held several executive positions with Cablevision and its subsidiaries, notably Rainbow Media Holdings. The Rangers have had success during Dolan’s ownership, including an Eastern Conference finals appearance in 2022 and a Stanley Cup finals berth in 2014. However, the Knicks have encountered hurdles, including a long title drought and inconsistent postseason success.
