NEWARK, New Jersey (AP) – Timo Meier, the top scorer for the New Jersey Devils, underwent elective arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder.
Meier underwent the surgery on Tuesday, according to the Devils, eight days after their eagerly awaited season came to an end without a postseason trip. The team stated that Drs. Jonathan L. Glashow and Guillem Gonzalez-Lomas carried out the procedure, but they did not specify which shoulder was operated on.
Meier should be prepared for the September training camp.
In his first complete season in New Jersey, the Swiss forward finished with 28 goals and 24 assists. He was acquired by San Jose in a trade prior to the trade deadline of the previous year.
The previous season, the Devils qualified for the postseason and defeated the Rangers in their first-round playoff series before falling to Carolina in the second round.
The Buffalo Sabres, who recently hired Lindy Ruff as their coach, will play two games against New Jersey to start the 2024–25 season in Czechia on October 4. The Devils let go of 64-year-old Ruff on March 4.
