The Nebraska Cornhuskers have had the fewest players leave during the off-season than any other college football team. But this doesn’t mean that Matt Rhule’s team couldn’t lose people. Let’s take a look at each of the four Nebraska players who have already chosen to move.
Although Chief Borders only played one season with the team, in 2023, he set a career high with nine stops and broke up a pass for the Huskers. In his high school time with the Gretna Dragons, Korver Denma excelled at the linebacker position. He made 63 stops by himself, 23 sacks, and 44 tackles for loss. The 220-pound defender finished his great career by being named to the Omaha World-Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star’s first-team all-state teams. However, this type of success would translate to something other than early playing time in Memorial Stadium. This was mainly due to the staff recruiting over the freshman. In the months since his arrival, Vincent Shavers and Willis McGahee IV were added as defenders that could play early. It also doesn’t help that the coaching team added Stefon Thompson from Syracuse. With this much depth in Rob Dvoracek’s linebacker room, Denma had to consider his choices. And a decision was made early, as he would enter the transfer portal.
