Motherwell had made a move for the Charlton Athletic playmaker but couldn’t agree terms. Their Scottish Premiership rivals have now stepped in and agreed terms on a loan for the rest of the season. The 28-year-old is set to be given permission to travel north to Gorgie to finalise his move. Record Sport revealed earlier this week that Fraser wanted to return to Scotland for family reasons.

Motherwell made a bid but couldn’t meet Charlton’s wage demands. Hearts boss Stevie Naismith has since come in and trumped them. Naismith freed up wages after letting Alex Lowry return to Rangers earlier this week. Fraser heads north after spells in England with Ipswich Town, Burton Albion, MK Dons and Charlton. He came through the ranks at Dundee United before he moved to England. Fraser is set to become Hearts’ second signing after they landed defender Dexter Lembikisa from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
