Norman believes he is adjusting to his new role in the defense for MK Dons.

Norman feels like he is adapting to his new position in MK Dons' defence

Cameron Norman, defender for MK Dons, had never played center back before.

Recently, Cameron Norman, a defender, said that it took him a little longer to get used to a new position.

The 27-year-old recently switched to center back in Mike Williamson’s new system at MK Dons after rising through the ranks as a right-back.

Norman, who moved to Stadium MK from Newport County in the summer, played a large portion of the season as an attacking full-back, a position that typically sees the player used more in the attacking third than in the defense.

Norman, however, moved inside to the right of the back three on the way back to his old club. In a manner, his role is still to be on the front foot there, but if in his previous role his offensive qualities were mainly showcased, his current one requires more of his defensive skills.

That took some getting accustomed to at first, he acknowledged to the Citizen following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers.

These days, I have to be more proud of my defensive side than my other accomplishments. “I’ll play wherever the gaffer directs me, giving it my all,” he uttered.

I’ve discussed it with the manager, and he gives me the benefit of the doubt regarding that. To be honest, it’s a new job for me; instead of accomplishing things in the last third, I now play a more defensive role.

“I take great pride in getting the clean sheet, and as the games have progressed, I’ve felt more at ease and able to add my own flair to the role.”

“My honesty makes me proud. I’m not hiding the fact that I wasn’t pleased with the previous game here. I have to assume responsibility and not back down from it because there is a good range of ages present.

“I am mature enough and experienced enough to admit when I am pleased or not with my performances. I am a team player; that is who I am.

Since joining the squad in the summer, Norman has quickly forged relationships with players like Alex Gilbey and Max Dean, and he claimed that everyone on the team is coming together.

He went on, “We’re really starting to bond as well, and between now and the end of the season, that’s what we’ll need when you’re digging in and people are putting themselves on the line.”
