Military veterans and Millwall Community Trust staff set to participate in Tommy’s D-Day Trek to raise funds for RBLI.

Military veterans and Millwall Community Trust staff, involved in the Millwall Military Veterans football program and Military Veteran Football Club, are participating in Tommy’s D-Day Trek. This event aims to raise essential funds for Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI).

Tommy’s D-Day Trek is a fundraising challenge commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in 1944. The trek begins at midnight on Friday, June 7, 2024, and continues through the night until 9 AM on Saturday, June 8. Participants will cover 44 km across the Kent countryside, passing through villages, fields, and woodlands, and finishing at the historic Chilham Castle in the village of Chilham.

The route will be marshaled by the Gurkhas, with breakfast provided midway to keep participants energized. After completing the trek, the veterans and Millwall Community Trust staff will further challenge themselves by playing a 5-a-side football match, carrying the necessary equipment along the entire route.

RBLI is a national charity that, since 1919, has offered critical accommodation, welfare, and employment support to injured veterans and people with disabilities. They work to inspire and support individuals to find work and lead independent lives, though the demand for their services means there are still many they are unable to help.
