Miami Dolphins Rookie Doubles Down on 4-Word Message Putting NFL on Blast

Wright, who carried for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns as a focal point of the Volunteers’ offence last season, now has the opportunity to run wild in an offence that also has Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De’von Achane, all of whom have track-star speed.

During the Dolphins’ rookie minicamp, the team’s fourth-round pick reiterated his draft weekend tweet.

“I’m going to remind these teams why they shouldn’t have passed [me up],” Wright stated. “They let a fantastic team have a dawg. That is on them.”

There’s little denying that the Dolphins’ backfield became more congested during the draft.

Despite competition from Wright, Achane, and Jeff Wilson Jr., the rookie’s speed and explosiveness position him to play a significant part for the Dolphins.

“Explosive back with good size and breakaway speed,” NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein wrote of Wright. “Wright’s running technique is more linear than free-flowing, limiting his cut smoothness and elusiveness at the second level.

“His vision and aggression as an interior runner are ordinary, but that will not prevent him from racking up yards on the stat sheet. He frequently bounced runs wide and outpaced the pursuit around the corner, thus transitioning to a stretch-based running attack would be a logical fit, allowing his speed to flourish.”

At 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, Wright is a heat-seeking missile of a back on a mission to prove to the rest of the league that he should have been drafted much higher than he was this year.
