During his tenure at Memphis, the 6-2, 290-pound player started 25 games, including all 12 in 2023. Throughout the entire season, he gave up just one sack and seven quarterback hurries.

Carter has the ability to play center or guard. Before switching to right guard last season, he was a center for the Tigers. He has one year left of eligibility when he logs into the site.

A two-year starter who spent four seasons playing for Illinois is moving south to Oxford. On Saturday afternoon, Tahveon Nicholson made his commitment known via the transfer portal. Nicholson is still eligible for one more year.

In addition to 36 tackles, Nicholson also had six passes defended and three caused fumbles.

Nicholson, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, recorded 66 tackles over his three seasons with the Illini. He was a starter for the 2022 Illini defense, which led the country in interceptions and was the best in pass efficiency defense. The Howard Griffith Impact Player Award for Illinois went to him.

The five-foot-eleven, 180-pound player was a three-star prospect after graduating from Jacksonville’s Riverside High School. Notably, Lane Kiffin and his team at Florida Atlantic made him an offer at that time.

In as many days, Nicholson is the second transfer portal talent to pledge to Ole Miss. On Friday, Chris “Pooh” Paul, a linebacker, made his commitment to the Rebels. In the entire transfer portal, he is ranked as the second-best athlete.

According to sources, 3,083 FBS players used the transfer site in the 2021–2022 transfer season. From 2,646 in 2021–20, 1,692 in 2019–20, and 1,717 in 2018–19, it is an increase. The NCAA’s recent policy allowing student-athletes to transfer once in their careers without having to sit out a year-in-residence can be at least partially blamed for that spike. This implies that, if they fulfill an NCAA-mandated entrance deadline, all athletes who log into the transfer portal for the first time will be immediately eligible at their new school.
