Papenhuyzen has had a horrific run of injuries over the past few seasons, with his most recent being an ankle injury that kept him out of action for about two months. He has expressed a desire to play for the NSW Blues in the State of Origin arena one day.

Speaking during his first game back in Storm colours in a while, he expressed his hope to eventually wear the NSW Blues jersey and become a member of the esteemed group of athletes.

Papenhuyzen revealed his desire to play for the Blues, but with players like Dylan Edwards, James Tedesco, Scott Drinkwater, and Clint Gutherson competing for the No. 1 jumper, he might find it difficult to break through.

“If nobody knows rugby league down there, they know what Origin is,” he remarked during Nine’s broadcast. “Melbourne loves sport and Origin is no different.”

It will undoubtedly be crowded out. It’s the kind of game you want to play.

Regretfully, not this year (for me). I’m hoping to play there soon and get to play at the MCG in front of Melbourne supporters.

“That’d be nice.”

“He is quite resilient. Excellent quality. Gallen stated during Nine’s coverage of the Storm vs. Dolphins game. “He never gives up.”

“I really liked how he stated in that interview, ‘Hopefully I’m out there one day.'” His goal is still to play for NSW. He wouldn’t have looked out of place the way he began this year.

Sadly, his injuries has taken a toll, and he has missed a significant amount of football.

He is a terrific athlete and a terrific man. He is one of the game’s stars and the buzz of the kids.

“Hopefully he can maintain his health and fitness and get experience playing consistent football. That’s probably what the Storm also want.”
