Sad News: Manly key winger out indefinitely due to hamstring injury…

Manly winger Jason Saab will be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained during Manly’s victory over South Sydney in Las Vegas. Saab’s absence coincides with the return of second-rower Josh Schuster from a calf strain, who is set to play in the NSW Cup this weekend.

With Saab out, new recruit Tommy Talau will take his place on the wing for Manly’s upcoming match against the Sydney Roosters. Coach Anthony Seibold has opted not to shift Reuben Garrick from the centres to cover Saab’s absence. Saab’s injury occurred in the final minutes of the match against South Sydney, dampening an otherwise successful 36-24 victory for Manly.

Scans revealed that Saab suffered a high-grade right hamstring injury, ruling him out until late April. Talau, formerly with the Wests Tigers, now has the opportunity for an extended run in the starting lineup, although Ray Vaega is also a potential replacement option.

Despite tweaking his ankle in the match against South Sydney, Karl Lawton has been named on the bench for the upcoming clash against the Roosters. Meanwhile, Schuster will make his return from injury by playing for Manly’s feeder team, Blacktown Workers, in their NSW Cup game against the Roosters.

Schuster’s return to fitness comes after dealing with various health issues, including a broken finger and a bout of chickenpox during the offseason. Second-rower Ben Trbojevic’s impressive performance in the victory over South Sydney could present a challenge to Schuster’s hopes of reclaiming his starting spot in the team.
