Rodrygo hints at mysterious injury concern at Real Madrid, while Manchester City faces an unexpected twist in the Champions League.

Rodrygo has provided an injury update on social media before Real Madrid’s clash at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City. The match, set for Wednesday evening, holds significant importance for both teams aiming to advance to the Champions League semi-finals.

In the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu last week, Real Madrid managed to secure a draw against the reigning champions, with Federico Valverde’s impressive volley rescuing them. With the tie still open, the Spanish giants opted for significant squad rotation in their recent fixture against Mallorca.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti decided to rest Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo, among others. Substitutions were also made for Jude Bellingham and Luka Modric in the second half, while Eder Militao made his return from injury.

In a press conference on Saturday, Ancelotti clarified that the changes were not primarily due to fitness concerns, except for Rodrygo, who was nursing an injury. The 23-year-old winger, who scored against Manchester City in the first leg, was replaced by Brahim Dias due to his knock.

Ancelotti stated, “I think we’re in good shape… Everyone was fine. Only Rodrygo, who had a knock.” He emphasized the importance of attitude over physicality in facing City, highlighting their strength in the latter.

Despite uncertainty surrounding Rodrygo’s availability, he has shared an update on his recovery via Instagram. He posted a series of images showing him working out in the gym with a personal trainer, engaging in exercises like lifting dumbbells, throwing a medicine ball, and doing sit-ups.

As for his participation against Manchester City, it remains to be confirmed. However, Rodrygo is traveling with the team to the Etihad Stadium for the fixture and appears to be progressing well in his recovery.
