Chris Sutton and Paul Merson predict FA Cup match between Manchester United and Liverpool

On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool will play Man United in the FA Cup quarterfinal. Two commentators have provided their predictions for the match.

Paul Merson and Chris Sutton have both backed Liverpool to beat Manchester United

For the forthcoming FA Cup encounter between Manchester United and Liverpool, both Paul Merson and Chris Sutton have forecasted the same score. Liverpool wants to get back to Wembley as soon as possible for this weekend’s quarterfinal matchup.

On Sunday afternoon, the Reds will travel to Old Trafford with the goal of qualifying for the competition’s semifinals as they pursue additional trophies during Jurgen Klopp’s final season as manager.

One of the fiercest rivalries in England is entering its newest phase with this encounter. It is occurring just a few weeks before the two teams rematch in the Premier League, which may prove to be a pivotal match in the competition for the championship and the top four slots.

But everyone’s attention is on the FA Cup right now. The final will just be a single step away for the winners.

Prior to their most recent match, former Premier League scorer Chris Sutton offered his opinions. He believes Liverpool will defeat their opponents this time around following a 0-0 Premier League draw in December.

“My friend predicted Manchester United would win this match, he informed me. He told BBC Sport, “I told him not to be so stupid.”

“United have dug deep and got some good results against Liverpool in recent years – for example, they beat them 2-1 at Old Trafford at the start of last season, when I didn’t give them a chance that day either. I understand that United supporters may be feeling enthusiastic about their season-opening 0-0 tie at Anfield, where they felt like they had just 2% of the possession.”

“But Liverpool are getting key players like Mohamed Salah back to full fitness and if they turn up and perform like they did in the second half against Manchester City last weekend, then they are going to win – no doubt about it. Rasmus Hojlund, United’s striker, is expected to return from injury and start the game, which is wonderful news for the team.”

“That is massive for them and gives them a far greater chance of getting through, but if Liverpool are anywhere near their best they will still have too much for them.”

Predictions from Chris Sutton: Manchester United 1-3 Liverpool.

Paul Merson agrees with Sutton. The ex-Arsenal player highlighted three players who could be important for Liverpool during the match.

“If you’re a Manchester United fan this weekend, you must be patient. Erik ten Hag might have ten players behind the ball against Liverpool at home, showing how much the Red Devils have slipped recently. It won’t make pleasant viewing for them,” he told SportsKeeda.

“Wataru Endo is a player I’ve been really impressed by, what a signing he’s been! Very rarely does Klopp get it wrong with transfers, I can’t recall looking at one of their signings over the years and saying’ damn, he was a major waste of money’, which is a huge compliment to everyone who works behind the scenes.”

“The likes of Jarrell Quansah and Conor Bradley have also been absolutely different class. Liverpool have good professionals at the club, making it a great environment for these young players to come into the team and flourish.”

Prediction made by Paul Merson: Manchester United 1-3 Liverpool.
