West Ham want to sign a very good Luton left back already – report

According to GiveMeSport, West Ham United are interested in signing Luton Town left-back Alfie Doughty this summer, but they will face competition from Crystal Palace.

Luton’s near-certain relegation from the Premier League will have clubs vying for the promising 24-year-old, and West Ham are expecting to win the race ahead of Palace and Wolves.

According to reports, new manager Julen Lopetegui is looking to enhance the Hammers’ defense, particularly at left-back.

Doughty’s strong performances for the struggling Hatters have reportedly attracted numerous top-flight suitors, and it appears more doubtful that he will continue to play at Kenilworth Road in the second division next season.

Will West Ham sign Alfie Doughty?

West Ham will experience significant departures this summer as Lopetegui’s squad develops over the coming months.

With Aaron Cresswell’s contract expiring in June and Emerson Palmieri’s underwhelming performances this season, the London Stadium’s left-back position requires special attention.

Doughty’s attacking abilities, having played almost exclusively as a left wing-back for Luton this season, would add a fresh dimension to the Hammers’ assault, surpassing both Cresswell and Emerson.

Julen Lopetegui will have a hectic summer as West Ham United’s new head coach.Although Doughty may play in a flat back four, Lopetegui’s possible targets in the center of defense outperform West Ham’s present choices.

Doughty’s outstanding showing this season has led to speculation of an England call-up. The 24-year-old can follow in the footsteps of Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice in finding a club to further his international career.

Kenilworth Road and the London Stadium couldn’t be more different, but with a completely new project starting at West Ham this summer, adding Doughty to the mix would undoubtedly give Lopetegui’s side a dynamic presence down the left flank.
