Joe Mazzulla said, “Reinvent,” but then he changed his mind. That seemed too strong to him. The offensive growth of his team in recent weeks, particularly during the four-game road trip, was acknowledged by the Celtics coach, though.

On the West Coast, the Celtics averaged 135.3 points on 49.4 percent shooting and 39.5 percent from beyond the 3-point line. Overall, they had a plus-16.8, and their performance against the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers, and Lakers in the last three games was even better.

One possible contributing factor could be the presence of Kristaps Porzingis, who scored a game-high 35 points in Thursday’s overtime victory over Detroit while playing against the Kings and Lakers. However, Mazzulla claimed that when facing different defenses, the team’s offensive cohesiveness has improved.
