Kylian Mbappe has been tipped to snub both Real Madrid and Liverpool this summer.

The France skipper is out of contract in the summer, and as things stand, is set to walk away from Paris Saint-Germain for free at the end of the season.

Mbappe can sign a pre-contract deal this month with a club outside France, and there has been plenty of speculation linking the 25-year-old to Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Of course, while Mbappe’s move wouldn’t include a transfer fee, it will still be an incredibly expensive deal to complete, with The Telegraph having claimed the player expects a salary of €75million a year (£64.5million) after tax, which equates to £1.24million a week. Moreover, there is also likely to be a significant signing-on fee.

Nevertheless, PSG are pushing for the player to stay at the club – a decision former PSG manager and player Luis Fernandez reckons Mbappe will settle for.

“Yes, (I think that) he will stay at PSG,” Fernandez claimed in an interview with beIN Sports.

“When I hear everyone’s statements, from the president of PSG, who takes the initiative and talks about the issue, when I see Kylian doing the same after a match about a signed agreement, when I see that PSG wants to invest in this new technical centre.

“We have brought Randal, Kolo Muani and Dembele, who are friends that Kylian wanted to have by his side. I think he will stay at PSG next season.”

Earlier this month, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said he has a “gentleman’s agreement” with Mbappe and “wants him to stay”.

“For me, he is the best player in the world, that’s the truth at this moment in time,” Al-Khelaifi told RMC Sport

“I have a good relationship with Kylian, he is a big player, personality and man. He said after the Trophee du Champions game, he has an agreement with me. I don’t want to get it out there.

“He knows what it is. He’s 25 years old, still young but the best player in the world. He’s going to win lots of trophies with the club and with the national team too. For the next ten years or so.

“I don’t want to talk about money and what the agreement is about. It’s not an agreement about money.

“It’s a gentleman’s agreement between the player, the president of the club, the sporting director and the coach. It’s more than just a signed agreement.

“Listen, I won’t hide anything. I absolutely want Kylian to stay. Absolutely. For me, the best player in the world is him and the best thing for Kylian is PSG.”

Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe was once promised an ‘astronomical bonus’ by Real Madrid if he signed for the club, according to a report.

Mbappe is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain at the end of June, meaning he can already talk with European clubs over a pre-contract.

That includes English clubs, with LiverpoolArsenal and Manchester City among the clubs linked with making a move.

According to French outlet Le Parisien, Jurgen Klopp‘s Reds are said to be ‘the most credible and dangerous candidate’ to sign Mbappe from PSG, although any deal would come with it a significant signing-on bonus.

But Real Madrid have heavily been linked with Kylian Mbappe, especially considering they do not have a senior centre forward in their squad on a permanent basis at present.

Karim Benzema left Real to join Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad in the summer, while former Stoke and Newcastle forward Joselu is on loan from Espanyol.

Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and even Jude Bellingham have played up front for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, with all three being natural in other positions.

Given president Florentino Perez’s desire to sign Mbappe – despite Real’s current financial predicament – a move to the Bernabeu for the Frenchman wouldn’t exactly send shockwaves through the footballing world. That’s despite Real issuing a statement in November denying that they had recently spoken to Mbappe.

The Athletic now claim that Mbappe held talks with Real Madrid over a move in 2022, although the extent of the talks is unclear. The Frenchman eventually opted to stay put in France instead.

On deadline day in the previous year, Real submitted a bid of €220 million to sign the forward, which was turned down by PSG.

And according to a source close to Mbappe, speaking to The Athletic, those 2022 talks involved ‘an understanding’ that the forward would receive a signing bonus of €130 million – although it is claimed that any talks now would likely lead to an agreement on a much smaller figure.

Mbappe has sought to distance himself from any claims that any move from PSG is incoming, stating that he has currently not made a decision over his future as of yet.
