The news on Monday has become very active regarding potential candidates for Liverpool’s next manager.
With less than a month remaining in Jurgen Klopp’s contract at Anfield, the Reds must move quickly to find a replacement.
So far, all we truly know is who Klopp’s potential successor isn’t.Xabi Alonso has clearly ruled himself out for some time now, but The Athletic revealed a startling new development today regarding Alonso’s successor in this regard.
Despite appearing to be a favourite in the last few weeks, they say that Ruben Amorim of Sporting is now ‘unlikely’ to be Liverpool’s next manager.
But after that shocking revelation, a second update on Monday night added even more mystery.
A flight from Ruben Amorim to England
Portuguese writer Pedro Sepulveda has kept Reds supporters updated on the story of Liverpool’s prospective new manager.
Sepulveda had most recently declared that the 39-year-old would unquestionably be leaving his present team at the end of the season.
The reporter also provided an update after the unexpected news from The Athletic.
Sepulveda asserted on X that Amorim was still being considered by Liverpool and that he was currently travelling to England to have meetings with West Ham United and the Reds.
“Ruben Amorim is currently travelling to London on a private jet! A meeting with West Ham and LFC is planned’, he states.
What’s happening to Ruben Amorim?
Alright, alright, alright. This has really started to get interesting. Amorim appeared to be the best option still available for Liverpool to many. That was just flung into the air.
It should come as no surprise, in many respects, that the Portuguese manager is visiting England. Just last week, rumours surfaced that Liverpool will speak with Amorim about taking over.
Just the timing of the update earlier today makes it interesting.
Maybe in the coming hours, Amorim’s situation will become a little more clear. Perhaps some other contenders will even begin to emerge. We have a suspicion about one of them in particular.
Liverpool doesn’t have much time left to decide either way. Ruben, have fun on your flight.
