Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool Mohammed Kudus pursuit

Liverpool reportedly moving in for Mohammed Kudus

The West Ham winger is still on a long-term contract with the Hammers (which expires in 2028), but he could be part of a potential exodus at the London club ahead of David Moyes’ expected departure.

According to sources close to the club, the recruitment team is looking to strengthen the forward line.

The Ghanaian has seven goals and six assists in 32 Premier League games in 2023/24.

Liverpool could activate £85 million. Mohammed Kudus’ Release Clause
With Jurgen Klopp leaving Anfield this summer, Arne Slot faces a daunting task.

This summer, the Dutchman will be desperate to bolster his attacking ranks with top-tier talent.

Kudus is the type of player that Slot will undoubtedly be interested in, and the Merseyside club appears to be prepared to make a move.

According to Ghanasoccernet, Liverpool plans to exercise an £85 million release clause in Kudus’ contract.

However, there is a major issue with that claim.

West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Liverpool FC at London Stadium on April 27, 2024 in London.

The truth about the Ghanaian’s release clause is not good news for Liverpool.

Ghanasoccernet reports that the Merseyside giants are preparing to lure Kudus away from the London Stadium this summer.

While this may be true, they will not be able to exercise his £85 million release clause.

Here’s why.

According to Sean Whetstone, David Sullivan’s closest source, Kudus’ release clause will not go into effect until the summer of 2025.

So there is no way the Reds will use that clause this summer.

Liverpool, on the other hand, could simply make a bid for Kudus without using any release clauses.

I believe West Ham will keep the 23-year-old for at least another season. He has been sensational for us in his debut season at the London Stadium, but there will undoubtedly be a clamour for his services in the summer of 2025.

Can we match his ambitions under new manager Julen Lopetegui? It remains to be seen.
