Leeds United ‘interested’ in free Chelsea agent signed for £33m as Tottenham ‘set’ Joe Rodon price

Leeds United lost 1-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, dropping them even further in the Championship promotion race. The game’s lone goal, scored by Sammie Sczmodics in the 82nd minute, condemned Daniel Farke’s team to their first home loss of the season at the most inconvenient time.

With three games left, it’s still all to play for as both Leicester City and Ipswich Town dropped points in yet another exciting week of Championship action. The first of those matches for Leeds is scheduled for next Monday against Middlesbrough. In the interim, the YEP has compiled a list of some of the most recent news from Elland Road.

Batshuayi’s “intention”

Leeds has shown itself as a “surprise suitor” for Michy Batshuayi, and the striker may sign with them this summer on a free transfer. According to Turkish publication Star, Batshuayi may decide to leave his current team, Fenerbahce, when his contract expires due to rumours of interest from England.

In 2023, Batshuayi signed a contract to join Fenerbahce for about £3 million, leaving Chelsea much worse off than when they paid £33 million for him six years earlier. In Turkey, the Belgian was able to move past his recent setbacks, making 68 appearances in all competitions and scoring an amazing 41 goals.
According to the report, Leeds is ‘interested’ in a free transfer if they are promoted to the Premier League, and while Fenerbahce is reportedly considering a new contract, Batshuayi may leave. Right now, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford are the only obvious choices at number nine.

Rodon’s price list
This summer, Joe Rodon is anticipated to depart Tottenham Hotspur permanently. According to Football Insider, a £10–15 million deal could be reached for the center back.

Since coming to Leeds on loan in the summer and starting virtually every game after missing the 3-1 loss to Southampton in September, Rodon has been excellent. The 26-year-old, who first partnered with Pascal Struijk and subsequently Ethan Ampadu, has been the lone constant in the best defense in the Championship.
Although Rodon has been in excellent form, Tottenham does not appear to have increased their valuation despite their willingness to sell him last summer. However, it’s possible that Leeds won’t be able to afford such a deal unless they get promoted.
