JUST IN: ‘Life-changing move’: Championship boss expects his 25-year-old to leave as Leeds eye bargain deal

Liverpool are said to have been scouting a Leeds United player for quite some time ahead of the summer window and Arne Slot is a self-confessed big fan.

Leeds are aiming for promotion this season, either through automatic qualification or more likely through the play-offs, despite a 4-0 loss to QPR. Whether they secure promotion or not will greatly impact the future of some key players.

Players like Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier, and Pascal Struijk garnered interest last summer, and this interest is expected to resurface regardless of Leeds’ promotion status. Returning to the Premier League would make it easier for Leeds to retain these players.

Crysencio Summerville, who recently won the Championship’s Player of the Season award, is another player in focus. The talented Dutchman has been in excellent form for Daniel Farke’s team, contributing to 30 goals.

Recent reports suggest that Feyenoord regrets selling Summerville to Leeds for £1.25m in 2020, with Xabi Alonso showing interest in bringing him to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano provided an update, mentioning Liverpool’s ongoing scouting of Summerville. There’s a possibility that Arne Slot, previously linked with the Leeds job in 2023, could sign Summerville for Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool want Crysencio Summerville

According to Romano’s podcast discussion over the weekend regarding Liverpool’s interest in Summerville, he mentioned, “It seems that Liverpool is indeed monitoring Summerville at Leeds United. They’ve sent scouts to watch him multiple times even before Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes joined the club to track Summerville’s progress. We’ll have to wait and see what Liverpool decides.”

While Leeds is anticipated to retain Summerville if they achieve promotion, the allure of joining Liverpool under a Dutch manager with Feyenoord connections might be too tempting for Summerville to resist.

What Slot has said about Leeds star Summerville in the past

The BBC among many other outlets have reported that Liverpool have agreed a fee of £9.4m to lure Slot to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s successor. The current Liverpool boss has said he is excited by the manager.

Earlier this year, Slot spoke of how he wanted to sign Summerville at Feyenoord: “I would have liked to see Summerville on our side. He’s too expensive. I have found him an interesting player for a long time.”

With the resources Liverpool have at their disposal, Slot now has the chance to sign Summerville. A player that scored the winner against Liverpool at Anfield under Jesse Marsch during the 2022-23 season.
