Exclusive: Kalvin Phillips “Desperate” to Rejoin Leeds United, Coaches Confirm
According to sources from Football Insider, Kalvin Phillips, an England international, is eager to return to Leeds United this summer. His loan stint with West Ham was disappointing after struggling to secure a spot in Manchester City’s lineup.
Football Insider previously reported Leeds’ interest in re-signing Phillips, and the player is enthusiastic about making the move happen.
Insiders from West Ham indicate that Phillips’ primary desire is to play for Leeds again.
Phillips, who left Leeds for Manchester City in a £45 million deal in 2022, has faced challenges establishing himself at the Etihad Stadium. His loan spell at West Ham saw limited starts and a red card in February.
Furthermore, reports suggest criticism from West Ham coaches regarding Phillips’ attitude and on-field performance, leading to no plans for extending his stay at the club.
The 28-year-old was born and bred in Leeds but departed to pursue major silverware under the guidance of Guardiola.
He has achieved that with Man City – winning the treble in 2022-23 – but is likely to cut his stay in Manchester short despite being contracted until 2028.
