Brazil and McCoist lash out at the “struggling” Leeds player in a “brutally honest” talkSPORT live

Following Leeds United’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland at Elland Road, Alan Brazil has advised Patrick Bamford to improve his scoring ability if he hopes to aid in the promotion push.

While Ally McCoist acknowledged he wants Ipswich to advance, he maintained that the race for promotion was too close to call given the inconsistent results from those at the top.

After Leicester’s defeat at the hands of Millwall and Leeds’ draw, the top three teams are now separated by just one point. If Ipswich can defeat Watford, they will have the opportunity to jump ahead by two points.

Brazil said in a live talkSPORT interview at [06:52]: “I think that was a big, big upset.” Leeds and Sunderland managed to draw goalless, and they have managed to hold onto the top spot.

“The goals are the reason Leeds is struggling. Bamford needs to rediscover his knack for scoring goals. It’s quite close, isn’t it? You don’t want to be in the playoffs, by the way, and it will come down to the final game of the season.

Then McCoist emphasized, “I think it’s hard to call.” I don’t know, I have to be brutally honest with you, but I kind of like Ipswich. It is impossible for Leicester to go more than a week without losing, and Southampton is currently guaranteed automatic promotion.

“The reason Leeds is having trouble is the goals. Bamford needs to rekindle his goal-scoring prowess. Isn’t it pretty close? It will come down to the last game of the season, and you don’t want to be in the playoffs.

McCoist then underlined, saying, “I think it’s hard to call.” To be really honest with you, I kind of like Ipswich, but I dunno. Leicester can never win for longer than a week, and Southampton is currently assured of automatic promotion.

In the Leeds United promotion race, Patrick Bamford faces criticism.
After his stellar performance over the Christmas break, Bamford has been relied upon as Leeds’ starting number nine in recent weeks. However, he may be losing Leeds the chance as he has gone five games without a goal.

Leeds won’t be devastated by a 0-0 draw at Elland Road, but it will be especially frustrating because it comes on a day when Leicester also lost. The strikers will need to step up and score again.

It almost seems like none of the top three teams want to be promoted at this point in the season. Despite expectations, all three of Leeds, Leicester, and Ipswich have dropped points, completely upsetting the picture.

Brazil cautioned against the possibility of either of the three teams making it to the playoffs, and with good reason—the Elland Road crowd will not be filled with nostalgia for their team’s previous failed attempts at postseason success.
