Las Vegas Raiders fire coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler…

“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave,” stated Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis. The search for a new head coach and general manager will begin at the end of the season.

“I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.”

McDaniels becomes the only non-interim coach in Super Bowl history to be dismissed by both teams before the end of his second season.

The Raiders announced linebackers coach Antonio Pierce will take over as the interim coach. His first game will be on Sunday at home against the Giants for whom he played for from 2005-09.

Las Vegas also stated that assistant general manager Champ Kelly will serve as interim GM while the organisation searches for replacements for McDaniels and Ziegler following the season.

According to NFL Network, the Raiders are also parting ways with offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi, who will be replaced by quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree. Las Vegas has yet to score more than 19 points in a game this season.

When Davis signed McDaniels, New England’s long-time offensive coordinator, he planned to expand the team’s success westward.

Ziegler worked in New England’s front office, and together with former John Carroll University teammates, they transformed the Raiders into ‘Patriots West’ by signing multiple players with ties to the club.

Despite taking over a team that made the playoffs in 2021 before falling to the Cincinnati Bengals in the wildcard round, Davis’s long-desired success never came to Las Vegas.

Under McDaniels, the Raiders finished 6-11 in 2022 and are 3-5 this season. His prior record in Denver was 11-17.
