Fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ first-round selection should count the opposition as allies.

Brian Thomas Jr., a wide receiver from LSU, was highly regarded during the draft process because of his 2023 performance and physical attributes. Now, one of his team’s fiercest opponents is outlining why he is a wise choice.

QB CJ Stroud of the Houston Texans stated, “I like this pick,” during Bleacher Report’s live draft broadcast.”They required a vertical down the pitch threat for Trevor Lawrence. It’s good for him to finally be able to hold onto the ball and get it down the pitch because, you know, it gets out of his hand so quickly.”

For LSU in 2023, Thomas caught 68 passes for 1,177 yards (17.3 average) and 17 touchdowns. Thomas caught 31 passes in 2022, gaining 361 yards and five touchdowns. He hauled in 28 passes for 359 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.

There is a previous relationship at play here, as Stroud clarified. After working out with Thomas earlier in the offseason, Stroud says he was reminded of a former Ohio State teammate during his brief encounter with the newest Jaguar.

“BT was really smooth when I threw with him this offseason, and that really stood out to me. Everything seems to be in order. It looks great, everything is vertical. “He has similar games, but I wouldn’t say he is exactly Chris Olave,” Stroud remarked. “I don’t believe his game has been released yet. As though he requires much better releases. However, when you discuss speed, it’s like, unreal. That’s what makes me think of Chris. catches with his hands. It seems like a really good choice. This selection appeals to me.”

“I’m content and eager to move forward. Thomas Jr. stated on Thursday night, “Traver is a great quarterback who is just ready to get there, put in the work, and see what happens from there.”

“Just my ability to move quickly, get open, and give defenders space.” That plays a major part in my game, in my opinion, and I’m excited to join the Jacksonville Jaguars and get started.
