2024 NFL Draft rumors Claims Uncertain: Do the jaguars want to trade up for Brock Bowers?

According to Todd McShay, a draft analyst, the Jaguars are seriously considering a trade for Brock Bowers.

Could the Jacksonville Jaguars make another investment in tight ends one year after they selected a tight end in the second round and sent Evan Engram to the Pro Bowl?

Todd McShay, a draft analyst, believes that. In a draft notebook that McShay shared on social media on Thursday, he listed the Indianapolis Colts and the Jaguars as “teams I’m hearing have interest in potentially moving up for TE Brock Bowers.”

As a true freshman, Bowers made appearances in 15 games and started 13, ranking him as the third tight end in the 2021 recruiting class and a four-star recruit. Leading the team in receiving, he caught 56 passes for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was also named First Team All-American, Freshman All-American, SEC Freshman Player of the Year, and First Team All-SEC.

In 2022, Bowers made appearances in 15 games, starting 14 of them. He caught 63 passes for 942 yards and seven touchdowns, in addition to scoring three touchdowns on the ground. Consequently, he was named to the First Team All-American and First Team All-SEC, and he was named the nation’s best tight end, winning the Mackey Award.

In 2023, Bowers won the Mackey Award once more. After leading Georgia in receptions for three years, he was named a unanimous All-American and a member of the First Team All-SEC. With an ankle injury that kept him out of three games, Bowers caught 56 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns in ten games.

At the annual league meetings in Orlando this year, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson stated, “We got to find ways to get on the field and create some matchups.” Bretton is another tight end.

“We can now improve on the work he did for us the previous year, which we liked. That tight end room, in my opinion, is still a strong room even with Luke [Farrell] present. It is necessary to have both stability and depth.”
