The pundit asserts Ipswich Town “will not welcome” the most recent Man Utd development.

Alan Nixon reports that the significant transfer chief might soon be heading back to his old team.

Since joining the team in April 2022, the Tractor Boys’ head of recruiting has been instrumental in determining their approach in the transfer market.

But he had previously worked at Old Trafford for four years, having started as a performance analyst and rising to the position of recruitment analyst for the first team.

This might be a major setback for the Championship team, since Jim Ratcliffe, the new minority owner, is aiming to restructure the workforce at the Premier League team’s back office.

Carlton Palmer: Ipswich “will not welcome this news”

Because of how effectively the team has recruited throughout the transfer window under Williams, Carlton Palmer thinks this might be a serious blow to the Suffolk club.

However, he thinks it might be too hard to decline an offer to play for a team like Manchester United.

Palmer said Football League World, “Sir Jim Ratcliffe is leading the effort to hire Sam Williams from Ipswich Town, a former employee of Manchester United.”

Williams is Ipswich Town’s head of recruitment at the moment.

Ratcliffe and the Red Devils are trying to assemble a fresh scouting staff.

Sam is making an impression in his new position at the top-tier Ipswich, orchestrating recruits and assisting the Tractor Boys in securing a fourth-place finish in the Championship standings.

“This is really good news for Man United, but it’s not so good for Ipswich,”

At 36, he is still a young man who has a lot of commercial potential.

“He will bring new ideas, and as everyone knows, for a team the size of Man United, player acquisition at United has been lacking in recent years.

“Ipswich will not be pleased to hear this news as they are hoping to get two promotions in a row.

“And when Manchester United calls, you just don’t pass up the chance.”

Ipswich had a busy January transfer window in an effort to bolster Kieran McKenna’s team in preparation for their drive for promotion.

Jeremy Sarmiento and Kieffer Moore, who are already performing well for their new team, were two of the acquisitions.

However, after losing 3-2 to Preston North End last weekend, Ipswich has dropped to fourth place in the Championship standings.

McKenna’s team has lost all eight of their league games, which has hurt them and kept them out of the automatic promotion spots.

Williams’ departure could be a blow

Williams’s work behind the scenes at Portman Road has garnered praise, as he has contributed to the development of a team that can contend for promotion to the Premier League.

Only Ipswich has been able to stay up with the newly demoted Premier League sides, Leicester City, Southampton, and Leeds United.

If they do not get promotion this year, it is still a testament to the caliber of their hiring team.

It’s telling that a team like Manchester United is interested in Williams, so losing him before the summer transfer window opens might be devastating for the Suffolk team.
