Championship transfer rumours from around the web as Sunderland and its league rivals prepare for the next season.
Striker linked with SAFC set to have contract option triggered
Blackburn are apparently prepared to activate a one-year contract extension for Sam Gallagher in response to interest from elsewhere.
In January, Ipswich expressed interest in the 28-year-old player before signing Kieffer Moore on loan from Bournemouth. Sunderland and Birmingham were also thought to be interested.
Gallagher missed a significant portion of the season due to injury, resulting in only three goals in 24 league games. However, according to TeamTalk, Blackburn has extended the striker’s contract for an additional year. Talks are also thought to be ongoing to extend the striker’s contract beyond 2025.
Sunderland will want to acquire at least one new striker this summer, after failing to sign another forward in January. The Black Cats recruited four young forwards last summer and will need to decide whether to loan out players like Hemir Semedo and Eliezer Mayenda next season.
