Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, says that everyone wishes striker Freddie Ladapo well as he departs the team on loan.

The 30-year-old striker officially made his Addicks debut yesterday, playing 86 minutes in a 2-0 loss at Burton, after signing a contract with League One Charlton Athletic through the end of the season on Friday.

Ladapo, who scored 21 goals in all competitions the previous season and was a major contributor to the promotion push, has disappeared from the starting lineup this season and hasn’t scored since September.

“Freddie made a wise decision,” McKenna said on TownTV. “At a respectable club, he has the chance to start games and play more minutes now that he needs to.

“He departs with our warmest regards. Over the past 18 months or so, Freddie has performed incredibly well and has been a key member of our team.

“We send him there with our best wishes for success through the end of the season.”
