It is reported that the clubs have now agreed on a sum that is little over £1 million plus additional add-ons. Wycombe Wanderers, the 21-year-old’s previous team, is entitled to 25% of the transfer money.

Al-Hamadi is now playing for Iraq in the Asian Cup; this morning, they take on Jordan in the round of 16. It is understood that Town underwent a medical examination over the weekend in Qatar, the location of the competition.

As was mentioned on Saturday, after rumors of Town’s interest surfaced at the end of the previous week, a number of other clubs expressed interest in Al-Hamadi. However, none of them, it is understood, were able to match the Blues’ offer, as the player was eager to join Town.

The 6′ 2″ striker left the Chairboys in January of last year to sign a free transfer with the Dons.

During the Iraq War in 2003, Al-Hamadi, who was born in Iraq, relocated to Liverpool when he was just a year old.

The 6′ 2″ striker, who played as a youth for Tranmere and Swansea, joined Wycombe Wanderers in 2021 after a trial, although he made his first professional matches while on loan at Bromley in the National League.

After playing a significant role for the Chairboys in League One in 2021–2022 and the first part of 2023–2023–Al-Hamadi, who has 12 Iraqi caps with three goals, transferred on a free transfer to Wimbledon in League Two in January 2023.

Since then, he has led the Wombles in goals scored with 27 in 40 starts and 8 substitute appearances, including 17 this season.

Sam Gallagher of Blackburn is still being pursued by Town, and a deal appears to be closer than it was a few days ago. Jerry Yates of Swansea is attracting interest from Rovers, as was reported over the weekend. Should the teams agree on a cost, Gallagher could be able to join the Blues as a result of this deal.
